Writing things down is a really good way to commit them to memory. This meant, I read through the applicable chapters in the Mosby book and all the materials in my binder and took notes.

I also promised to dedicate at least 1 hour of studying a day. Then I set a schedule to try and study one domain/area a week, but to allow myself to go into another week if I found I needed it (like with Animal Nursing). Reptiles and amphibians have three chambers in their heart.

Rats and horses don't have gall bladders. Cattle are super sensitive to xylazine (they get 1/10th of the dose for a horse). I also got a little notebook for "quick facts" that I wanted to remember, like "Normal PCV: 45% in dogs and 37% in cats," or " RER = 30 x kg + 70" or "Horses do NOT release reticulocytes into blood stream." Really pay attention to things that are unique for a species. Here's what else I did: I got a big binder with a section for each domain of the exam and collected all the printable study materials in there things like scans of important charts from my textbook, the PowerPages, and pages from the VSPN Notebook section. Resources used: VetTechPrep, Mosby's Comprehensive Review book, and VSPN VTNE prep class (although I mostly just used the study guides, I didn't get much out of the weekly presentations). I read this the other day and bookmarked it until after I had passed my exam so that I could reliably tell you some study tools. The good thing is you can keep all of the material after the class is over! Anyway after practically beating the prendergast book into my head over and over again I passed my VTNE the 2nd time with a 558 I started going into labor 6hours after my exam. The class was filled with great review guides but you have to be committed to use them. All I did to study that time around was I signed up for a vtne review class through vspn, every week the class did a few topics so that's the topic I focused on with the book. The second time I took the test I was 37 weeks pregnant so no Adderall and pregnancy brain on top of it. I was studying multiple books while on Adderall (prescribed). The first time I took the vtne I got a 400. With exam mode and study modes and then some other quizzes that the makers of the book did themselves. Was this the prendergast book? If it was then you need to register the book on the elsiver website and it will unlock a great study tool for that book. You mentioned you used the questions and answers for VTNE.
